£100 000 Pot Holed Road Resurfacing Complete

THE £100,000 refurbishment of a pot-holed road has been completed.

Durham County Council has spent the last seven and a half weeks resurfacing Front Street in West Auckland.
The road had fallen into a poor state of disrepair due to its unadopted status, but the council will now take control of its maintenance after bringing it up to a high standard. West Auckland county councillor Rob Yorke said: “This road has been causing problems for residents and businesses on Front Street for a long time.

“It was in a terrible state and is now unrecognisable from its previous state.
“The council has done an excellent job and all the feedback coming to my fellow councillor Christine Wilson and I is extremely positive.”

Terry Collins, corporate director for Neighbourhood Services, said: “This council-owned highway is in a prominent position and well-used location on Front Street in West Auckland.
“The scheme will benefit the community and local businesses.”
